Hello, I am Kristopher, one of Rise Hybrid Private Academy’s first graduates. I graduated with honors and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Virginia in May 2025, where I developed a strong foundation in the biological sciences and a deep commitment to service and healthcare.
I have always had a natural ability to grasp mathematics, earning an almost perfect score on the Mathematics section of my SATs at the age of 12, which led to my acceptance into the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. This strength in quantitative reasoning has complemented my work in science and research, as well as my experience tutoring students in mathematics. I have worked with learners of all levels to help them understand math concepts ranging from foundational skills to advanced college-level mathematics, emphasizing problem-solving, clarity, and confidence-building.
During my time at UVA, I worked as a Certified Pharmacy Technician at the UVA Hospital and as a Medical Scribe in the Emergency Department, gaining extensive experience in patient care, communication, and the collaborative nature of healthcare delivery.
I also conducted research in the Abbott Lab within the UVA School of Medicine’s Department of Pharmacology, where I worked with mouse models to study respiratory modulation using chemogenetics, plethysmography, and pharmaceutical agents. This experience allowed me to explore the neural regulation of breathing and strengthen my technical precision, data analysis, and critical problem-solving skills.
Beyond research and academics, I served on the Executive Board of First of the Family, where I mentored first-generation college students, and volunteered with Remote Area Medical, helping to deliver free healthcare and dental services to underserved communities throughout Virginia. These experiences deepened my appreciation for hands-on care and the tangible impact of accessible healthcare.
In addition to my clinical and research work, I remain passionate about education and mentorship. I’m dedicated to helping students grow both academically and personally, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to their success through education and guidance.
